“Macdonald Elmers Court strikes me as a place caught between eras; its Tudor architecture hints at a rich past, while modern travelers might find some aspects wanting an update. The grounds are undeniably impressive, spanning 23 acres, and the Two AA Rosettes suggest the dining experience could be a highlight. However, be aware that some facilities may not match the grandeur of the setting.”

Elmers Court Hotel offers a blend of historical charm and convenient facilities, with spacious and clean rooms often situated in a chalet-style block near the main building. Many guests appreciate the lovely grounds and gardens, as well as the hotel's proximity to the Town Quay and shops; plus, some rooms even come with balconies and kitchenettes. The evening meals are often considered exceptional, though a few guests have found the spa facilities need a bit of TLC. Many enjoy relaxing with an afternoon drink outside in the sunshine.

Acceptable Stay at the Location

I stayed in a Beautiful King Room. The room was spacious. I noted the grounds were well maintained and enjoyable for walks. The breakfast was quite ample and offered hot food.
The room had net curtains and they were very grubby. The electric heater on the wall looks dated. I saw that one pillow was open ended.
